Progaming perspective - RTS in the US 9 comments
Blizzard-Gaming has published an article titled "Progaming in the USA" that takes a look at the state of Professional RTS gaming in Asia compared to the US. It is an interesting look at the "other side" of online gaming.
The author goes into some depth about present RTS competitions (especially Gamefixx), and some historical competitions including names which will sound familiar to Quake players, like WCG and i2e2. There are several quotes from some of the top players from the US.
It used to be the case that FPS players could at least take some satisfaction that outside of Asia, FPS gamers were the real stars, but I think things may have shifted... considering the top CS players in the US, X3, made less than $10,000 each in 2001, and there are apparently a number of RTS gamers who have done much better. Is it a permanent change? Only time will tell. One thing is for sure, things will only get better. Read more.
