I'm really proud to announce that GamesOnline Sydney are now sponsoring the Challenge. (GolSyd Admin) and have kindly offered to help out with designing the Challenge rules and with player liason - once we get the technology settled and tested (and assuming it works!) - thanks heaps to both :-) ()

We now have a US person dealing with the hardware side of things for us..
I'm absolutely wrapped (surfing lingo) to be able to announce that Chris "Ozy" Johnson, of Clan 311, is going to be our "US Partner" in helping to set up the Australian Challenge (and no doubt further international Quake sports events). Chris has extensive experience in this stuff, and will be able to liase with Kornelia and sCary :-)
Chris and Hoony will now work on getting the connectivity stuff sorted out, along with Ascend and other sponsors. we'll update you when we have more news. Remember, it's one step at a time...

Another sponsor has joined the ranks, in our quest to get the challenge working... Ascend Communications in the US will be helping us by providing the ISDN routers! This is great news - without 128K ISDN it just won't work. Ascend bring us a huge step closer - thanks to Jack Wang, International Marketing Manager, Ascend, in sunny California!

Please don't e-mail myself or Hoony asking to be included in this challenge... At the moment, it is merely a test, to see if we can get this thing working, its not a "Competition" as such. Although we hope that eventually it will be something like that, it isn't yet. I'm sorry that we cannot include you into the games, but maybe further down the track, you will be able to enter the comps we hope to have, to find out who will play for Oz, and who will play for the USA.. Perhaps once a month? Some sort of trials.. I don't know. Remember, this is just a test to see if we can make it work, and we wanted to do it with some people who are "Known" in the Quake community, to get some respect (So people know we are serious), and to make it exciting. Thanks ()

Challenge.AU has sponsors!!! Check out the Sponsors page. Things are starting to get serious!

Well I finally pulled my finger out and got the webpage up. Its nothing special.. Its using recycled Graphics (I'm no graphic artist). Besides, It is part of Quake.AU and has to blend in, which I think it does quite well
Let me make a comment here.. This is not Quake news, this page is for news on the progress of the Australian Challenge, if something happens with it, there will be news about it posted here!
I hope that we can get this test run off, and make the Australian Challenge into a popular, respected, and regular thing. We want to get our Aussies playing the Americans, and to do that we need help from the big fish. Modems just don't cut it when playing in the States ;) ()
