Live 1v1 Q3A Action on CNN/Sports $comment_count ?>
Wow, this one came right out of left field and hit me by surprise. Erasmus (thx man) sent in a link to CNN's Sports Illustrated and apparently there is going to be a new, 7-episode, 1 hour TV show on CNN/Sports which will feature LIVE 1v1 Quake3Arena action from the 'world's best players'!
Not only that, but the show will apparently be hosted by none other than Frank Cabonski, who many of you will remember as a previous CLP Comissioner and as the guy who tried to get the first World Quake Champs going back in the days of Q2. Way to go Frank! The show is apparently going to be sponsored by Intel and NVIDIA and will run from some high-tech studio in LA where 10 "top players" will face off in a 'series of bone-crunching virtual combat spectaculars' that will feature 'the latest cutting-edge consumer computer technology'.
Awesome :). I know from previous talks with Frank that he is well aware of the production requirements to make FPS games intelligible to the wider non-gamer audience. UPDATE: I just got hold of Frank on ICQ and he told me that the studio bosses had somehow watched a demo of xfoo vs rat on Q3Aerowalk and they instantly wanted to bring it to the masses. From what I understand, game commentary will be supplied by Killcreek and godsmurf working in tandem, whom I'm sure will make a winning combination.
The identities of the 10 "top players" so far remains a mystery but I'm sure that they will be representative of every Q3A-playing country in the world. The show starts next year on 1 April so be sure to tune in!

| I think a show like this wld really rock :). Frank hurry up with your damn projects! Also, imagine godsmurf and Killcreek together - I think they'd be really hot. The only thing in this scenario that I'd change is the game - it shld be cpma. That wld produce some fireworks :). |

whoa, this is just what pro gaming needs! with the gxl and this coming up the cpl looks to be owned. i've been posting for a while that the cpl wasn't aggresively pursuing all its options and now it looks like someone has beat them to it.
btw, if some "studio bosses" can tell cpm owns vq3, then you cpm naysayers are really pathetic! >:p |

It's a version of Preacher's original Q1 Aerowalk by Kiwi mapper Centaura. There's also another version in development by Australia's Hubster.
If anyone knows how to contact Preacher pls let me know.

Definitely something great happend to q3 community today.
Thats not the end of surprises.
Today CGL chiefs, announced 25.000$ in cash prizes!
Also komputer potentant - IBM - is going to give best p4 + monitors 21' for ALL 32 players which will play in main CGL #2 final!
CGL owners surpised by big response from sponsor said also that next CGL tournament will be European biggest competition with best world players invited which fly costs will be coverd!
